FAQ
Are your products made in Canada?
Yes, all our products are crafted at our workshop in rural Nova Scotia, Canada – known as Canada's ocean playground.
Can I customise or personalise the product?
Yes! Please reach out to us via the 'Contact' link and let us know what you would like to customise or create. We can then discuss the project with you, provide a quote and get started on making you a personalised piece.
Can I put my product in the dishwasher?
No! Please do not put any of our products in the dishwasher. We recommend wiping the product with a damp cloth and drying it. Try not to submerge the piece in water, this can cause damage.
Can I request a specific wood grain or colour variation?
Due to the numerous variations in color and grain present in wood products, accommodating specific requests for these characteristics can be challenging. However, since we handcraft these bespoke products, we have the ability to carefully examine each piece of wood and identify its unique characteristics. This allows us to sculpt the piece in a way that showcases and highlights these attributes.

Are your products environmentally friendly or sustainably sourced?
The majority of the wood used in our products is harvested from our own property. We have 36 acres covered in oak, maple, birch, ironwood, beech, pine, fir, hemlock, and varieties of poplar. Working with a silviculturist*, we identified mature trees that need harvesting while working to protect the saplings. This approach allows for the regeneration of the forest ecosystem by preserving young trees and promoting their growth into mature trees over time.
Not only do we harvest the trees ourselves, but we also operate a bandsaw mill that turns the trees into dimensional lumber and live edged slabs. This enables us to cut the pieces to specific sizes for our bespoke products, thereby reducing waste. Additionally, we utilise a solar kiln to dry the wood to a specific moisture content using only solar power – even our fans are solar powered. From seed to sawdust, we handle every step of the process.
Furthermore, we make wood chips from the branches and limbs, which are then used as mulch around our garden or for weed suppression.
*Silviculture is the art and science of controlling the establishment, growth, composition, health, and quality of forests and woodlands to meet the diverse needs and values of landowners and society such as wildlife habitat, timber, water resources, restoration, and recreation on a sustainable basis.
